| There
is no point in being shy about it - we love our staff! It is a strong group
of highly skilled individuals who work with integrity, love to have fun,
respect the outdoors and are excellent at what they do. People come from
all over to join the Wilderness Voyageurs family. What was affectionately
known in 1961 as Uncle Lance's home for wayword boys, Wilderness Voyageurs
has grown to become a close knit family through the years. We even have
multiple generations working for us! Maybe you'll be lucky enough to spend
the day with the Douglas Familiy. Jay worked here in the 70's and now all
3 of his kids have joined the staff! It is this group that makes Wilderness
Voyageurs the great company that it is. Since the staff is quite large,
you'll have to wait until your day on the river to meet everyone. For now
though..here is a quick encounter... |

Ben Scoville
has returned as our master of operations. Ben is a veteran guide and an
experienced boater. He can be identified by his sunny disposition, distinct
laugh, and his little dog "Binga" that follows him everywhere.
When not giving orders, Ben enjoys playing bass guitar and kayaking. |
 |
Seth Custer
is our reservations manager. He is an experienced kayaker that can usually
be found on the phone helping people find what they are looking for. This
self-described romantic is also a learned man, holding a double degree in
buisness and German. Seth relaxes by biking, boating, and spending time
with his dog, Huck. |

Nick manages Falls City Pub, our restaraunt and bar. Not exactly the outdoorsman
type, Nick enjoys staying indoors, drinking legal beverages, and feeding
stray dogs. Also an amateur comedian, Nick knows more one-liners than Rodney
Dangerfield and is not afraid to recite them at any given moment. |
 |
Scott Downs is our most "senior" guide. For over two decades,
he has been guiding people like you safely down all the rivers in the area.
Scott is also the former head of our guide training program, and has been
producing quality whitewater professionals for years. Known for his voice
projection and professionalism, Scott Downs is, without a doubt, "The
Man". |
 |
Andy Kirby is non-stop. Called the "whitewater gazelle" by some,
Kirby prances down the river with a swift grace. This veteran raft guide
holds a masters in math, and often flip-flops between here and out west.
Ever-moving and never bored, Kirby keeps himself occupied by playing fiddle
and guitar, kayaking, skiing, and searching for the ever elusive "good
time". |
 |
Rich Rostauscher has been guiding with our company for six years and also
assists with the training of our guides. He is an experienced kayaker and
all around good guy. Rich spends his winters in Pittsburgh teaching middle
school children the wonders of science. When not working, he enjoys boating,
playing ukulele, and spending quality time with his dogs. |
 |
Colin Frye
is no stranger to the company. This Pennsylvania native has been doing the
dirty work around here for years, and now he is finally old enough to guide.
This teenage ruffian, lovingly dubbed "Shlep" by his co-workers,
is a new edition to our already stellar guide staff. In his free time, Colin
enjoys driving his brother's VW Beetle, improving his cooking skills, and
cleaning the toilets at the bath house. |
 |
Corey Coker
is a man of many hats. Originally from Ohio, this military man-turned frat
boy-turned raft guide can be recognized by his viking-esqe looks. Corey
enjoys spending his free time playing bingo, fixing rafts, and coming up
with new designs to shave into his facial hair. |
 |
Lou Rovegno
is a veteran world class store boy who has been with the company for years.
Known for his bluntness and sometimes brutal sarcasm, Louis is an aquired
taste that many people never develop. He keeps up his manly reputation by
showing up the guides with his kayaking and climbing skills. With two college
degrees in math and buisness, this man is the total package of brawn and
brains. When he is not hawking outdoor gear, Lou enjoys playing keyboard,
singing, and listening to girl music. |
 |
Drew Eastman
is no stranger to excitement. This veteran guide, called "Top Dog"
by some, is a full-time thrill seeker. He is as smooth on the water as he
is with the ladies. This charismatic kayaker is originally from Ohio, but
after spending the winter here, he is an adopted local. When not on the
clock, you can usually find him living it up at the pub. |
 |
Kaila is
a whitewater princess with plenty of skills to keep up with the men. She
can climb, kayak, guide, and mountain bike anyone into the dust. But Kaila
is not a dumb jock, she holds a degree in buisness from Slippery Rock Universtiy.
When not on the water, you can find her taking trips to exotic locations
and documenting them using her photography skills. Although not with us
full time through the summers any more, she'll make drop in appearances
and you'll be lucky if she is your guide! |
 |
Bob Petty
is extreme. There is no middle ground for this veteran raft guide and boater,
it's either the absolute worst or best. In the off season, Bob is pursuing
his graduate degree in education. He enjoys bar-hopping, telling stories
and boating in his spare time. Bob now works full times as a salesman, but
we'll still see plenty of him on the river. |
 |
Will is a
fine young man who has almost grown up with the company. This is his first
year guiding, but he comes from good stock. He is following in his father's
footsteps who also guided here long ago. When Will's not pushing rubber,
he's prepping for his upcoming sophmore year at CMU. |
 |
Pat Kneidler
is a veteran guide from Pittsburgh with a deep love for the outdoors. He
holds a degree in parks and recreation from Slippery Rock University. "Captain"
Kneidler lives by the idea that as long as you go at something 100%, everything
will turn out alright. In other words, "go big or go home". In
his spare time, Pat enjoys kayaking, attending outdoor music festivals,
and expanding his mind in any way possible. |
